Time For Sears-Reid-Miyares To Sing Kumbaya
It was nice while it lasted, Virginia.
Our three-year respite from the radical tyranny of Democrat party rule could soon be over. There was a chance we could keep freedom alive in the upcoming statewide elections. All the party and its candidates had to do was join together to deliver a coherent message and remind voters of what it was like when Democrats ran the show.
Unfortunately, with victory in their sites, the GOP - led by Gov. Glenn Youngkin - formed a circular firing squad last week and began shooting at each other. If Winsome Earle-Sears and Jason Miyares don’t reach out and hold hands with running mate John Reid the chances of any of the three winning in November is greatly diminished.
The campaigns already appeared to be off to a sluggish start, but when Youngkin phoned lieutenant governor candidate John Reid last Friday to ask him to get out of the race over a couple of photos of him at a drag show (he wasn’t IN drag, he was merely there) and a racy Tumblr account that Reid insists was not his, Virginia’s top Republican stuck a stick in the spokes of the statewide campaign.
A rare misstep from this governor, who reportedly uncoupled Thursday from the advisor that is being blamed for the Reid phone call.
While prominent members of the GOP stuck their fingers in the air before deciding if they’d support the openly gay Reid, his running mates appeared to abandon him.
Sears eventually gave a tepid endorsement on Wednesday, saying she supported “the ticket” and that they each have their own races to run.
Miyares has been mum.
News flash: If they’re each running their own races, they will lose. There needs to be a show of GOP unity. After all, the three nominees are all conservatives, they support the same issues and are seeking the same voters. Why wouldn’t they support each other and jointly spotlight the radical policies of their opponents while barnstorming the commonwealth in an effort to get more Republicans back in the state house?
Their Democrat opponents are on the wrong side of many issues.
If the party leaders won’t remind voters of what a Democrat in the governor’s mansion meant last time, let me refresh some memories.
Shortly after he was elected, the worst governor in Virginia history - Ralph Northam - a medical doctor, explained in a radio interview how he likes to handle imperfect babies. He essentially threw a blanket on the infants and waited for the parents to give him a thumbs up or thumbs down, Roman gladiator-style.
And yes, he supported Del. Kathy Tran’s radical 2019 abortion bill that would have allowed abortions up until the moment of birth.
It wasn’t long after that disastrous interview that someone leaked photos of Northam in blackface to the press. He refused to resign once his racist past was on display and instead began shoveling loads of DEI policies on Virginia, making us all part of his personal reparations.
Meanwhile, his far-left legislature was busy passing soft-on-crime laws and climate inspired bills that linked Virginia to California’s insane energy polices.
And then came covid.
Northam trotted out useless mask mandates, lockdowns, restrictions on the size of gatherings even in one’s own home. Every Thursday the governor held a press conference where he stomped on more civil rights daring anyone to challenge the arrogant little doctor.
He closed churches and issued rules so restrictive that schools were unable to reopen normally in the fall of of 2020.
Here in Virginia Beach the little despot ruled that walking, running and fishing would be allowed on the beaches, but no sitting. Months later, he graciously allowed sitting on the beach but forbade dangerous activities like music or games involving balls. So scientific!
Meanwhile the city employed an army of city goofy sterilizers whose job it was to wipe down the handrails leading onto the sand and drain the city budget.
Performative. Ludicrous.
All of it.
When Youngkin, Sears and Miyares won in 2021 it was like a fresh Virginia breeze. Indignant columnists in Richmond dubbed Youngkin’s inaugural ball the “vests and ventilators” event, as the brainwashed left continued to insist that any maskless celebration would lead to covid deaths.
And yet, we’re still here.
Masks were immediately off kids, schools everywhere in Virginia reopened and Youngkin announced his opposition to totalitarian measures such as the electric car mandate headed our way, thanks to the Democrat General Assembly.
The party of despots must never be given complete control of Virginia again. They already have the General Assembly.
Not only are Republicans gunning for each other, but the happy news for Democrats was that abortions were up 16% last year in Virginia, mostly driven by out-of-state women who live in places where abortions are restricted. Virginia allows unrestricted abortions until the 26 weeks and 6 days of pregnancy.
That’s several weeks after a baby can live outside of the womb, but the Dems don’t care.
Given the Party of Death’s obsession with abortion look for more enthusiasm for the ghoulish practice in Richmond if the Democrats control the whole show.
If the Sears-Reid-Miyares ticket can’t gin up some unity and energy, there are dark days ahead for the Old Dominion .
