Dianne Feinstein Refuses To Pander to Pint-Sized Political Pawns

I’m no fan of California Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

When she sat on accusations from Christine Blasey Ford against then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh last summer only to have them leaked at the 11th hour to derail Kavanaugh’s appointment, I said she should be censured by her colleagues. It was a cynical stunt by a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

But recent footage of Feinstein being confronted by a bunch of brainwashed kids demanding she sign on to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s nutty Green New Deal left me cheering for her.

Climate activists released a cleverly cut video of the meeting, aimed at making Feinstein look short-tempered and irritable. The full version shows a polite public servant trying to deal with a roomful of pushy people.

Even worse than the little lefties is the woman with them. It appears she’s a member of the “Sunrise Movement,” an organization that is trying to raise an “army” of young people to demand radical, economically disastrous action on climate change. This leader repeatedly interrupts the senator to demand that she agree with the rug rats, while lecturing Feinstein in a voice that drips with condescension.

She’s teaching these kids valuable lessons. If they’re going to be left-wing activists, that is.

This woman is teaching the kids to disrespect elected officials. And she’s showing them that talking over someone is better than having a discussion. She’s teaching them to be rude.

It’ll all come in handy when they’re old enough to join Antifa.

My favorite exchange is when one of the older kids declares, “We’re the people who voted for you!”

Feinstein didn’t miss a beat.

“How old are you?” Feinstein asked.

“Sixteen,” she replied.

“Well, you didn’t vote for me,” she snapped.

The no-nonsense responses from the senator - she tells the kids there’s no way to pay for the Green New Deal - have the extreme left fuming about out-of-touch old liberals like Feinstein. In fact, in a piece headlined, “The Hard Lessons of Dianne Feinstein’s Encounter With The Young Green New Deal Activists,” The New Yorker this weekend scolded the senator from California saying that “youth carry the moral authority” on climate change.

Oh really? And on what other issues can middle schoolers claim the high moral ground?

Health care? National defense? Education?

Should we just lower the voting age to 12 so they can really be heard?

To her credit, Feinstein didn’t pander to this band of mostly pre-pubescent political pawns. She didn’t pretend that she was going to sign on to the Green New Deal just to get them out of her office. She didn’t compliment their spirit. Instead, she gave them a lesson in politics. She pointed out that she was just elected for another six-year term by more than a million votes. She doesn’t have to do their insane bidding.

After watching the tape I’m left with five words I never thought I would utter:

I’m with Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

Just this once.
