Guess What’s Trending on Twitter? #CNNTapes.

Perhaps you heard, controversial undercover journalist James O’Keefe at Project Veritas has begun releasing a series of recordings of CNN’s 9 a.m. news conference calls.

The first tapes dropped last night. By 10 pm #CNNTapes was trending on Twitter.

O’Keefe, who calls himself a “guerrilla journalist” claims that a “brave insider” at CNN got him into the calls, which he then recorded. He has CNN president Jeff Zucker and many other members of the top brass and reporters at the network on tape strategizing their coverage of national news.

What’s been revealed so far is not exactly blockbuster stuff to anyone paying attention. Yet it was a peek into the ugly inner workings of a second-rate network intent on manufacturing the news rather than simply reporting it.

Anyone surprised?

We already knew that CNN was in the bag for Biden, so revelations that Zucker and friends were determined not to “normalize” President Trump during the waning days of the campaign was predictable. Recordings of the executives saying they wanted to go after Lindsey Graham “hard,” were also expected.

If there’s one thing Zucker can’t stand it’s powerful Republicans.

And it is hardly earthshaking to learn that the CNN brass loathe Fox News, which has trounced them in the ratings game for years. Yet the characterization of Fox’s most popular host, Tucker Carlson, as a white supremacist by CNN’s Vice President of global programming, Marcus Mabry, veers off into lunacy.

“I think it’s unavoidable that you have to talk about the naked racism of Tucker Carlson...Sort of the White Supremacist Hour they have on Fox every night,” he (or someone identified as Mabry) says on the tape.

Seriously? The left tosses the term “white supremacy” at anyone they don’t like. It’s tedious. Can’t they be a tad more imaginative?

Upon learning of O’Keefe’s tapes, CNN Tweeted, “This may be a felony. We’re referring it to our lawyers.”

Maybe so, but it’s deliciously ironic.

Anyone else remember how CNN, on October 2, gleefully played the secret recordings of Melania Trump’s private conversations with a former friend where she expressed impatience with White House Christmas decorating?

Those tapes had absolutely no news value and were aired on CNN solely to embarrass the First Lady and by extension, the president.

Looks like Jeff Zucker now knows what it feels like to be the victim of a duplicitous eavesdropper bent on maximum embarrassment.

Odd. I can’t muster any sympathy for him.
