Ukraine: Sunflowers And Flags Aside, This Is Not Our War

It’s time.

Time for the common-sense crowd to drown out the elitists and their social media megaphones brimming with bad ideas and their “We’re all in this together” platitudes.

If you’re retired or work from home and have DoorDash and Amazon Prime accounts, take a seat when Covid lockdowns are being discussed. They were a minor inconvenience for you.

Same goes for members of the leisure class who put a mask on for 15 minutes to run to the supermarket and then complain that the grunts who bust their butts behind the cash register for 8-hour shifts aren’t properly masked up.

Lockdowns and masks didn’t affect you the way they affected working people who were stuck in face diapers all day. Your conceit and disregard for ordinary people is nauseating.

If you don’t have ties to the military, have the decency to politely sit out any discussion on whether the US should go to war in Ukraine right now, too.

A Rasmussen survey released Sunday showed that the richer the American, the more likely that person is to support going to war for Ukraine. No surprise there. It’s not the sons and daughters of millionaires who fight our wars.

You can hear it. The war drums are beating. And the drummers are not those whose children would be fighting and dying thousands of miles from home. They’re the virtue-signaling class who discovered Ukraine a couple of weeks ago and have decided that this is their cause du jour. They’re slapping sunflowers and Ukrainian flags on their Facebook pages. As if that does anything.

War is not a parlor game.

While we’re at it, if you’re a multi-millionaire celebrity kindly shut up about how you don’t mind paying more for gas to help the Ukrainians.

If you’re an out-of-touch left-wing urbanist don’t you dare beg the government for gas rationing. Or assume that the unwashed are wasting gas as we drive to and from frivolous appointments.

I’m guessing Dr. Laurie Donahue-Hjelle doesn’t drive daily to a minimum wage job.

Americans are being crushed by high gas prices. If you don’t believe me, ask someone who does yard work, for instance. They drive gas-powered pickup trucks and all of their equipment is powered by gas. An astronomical price hike like the one that’s happening means they can’t earn a living.

But by all means, ignore the struggling little guy while you plaster sky blue and yellow all over your Facebook page.

The only lasting answer to this current crisis is to declare America open for gas and oil exploration and drilling. Remove the impediments that the Biden administration has slapped on the energy industry. Drill on public land, federal land, drill in my yard if you like.

Let’s become truly energy independent so we don’t have to bow down to Iranian mullahs, Venezuela’s strong men or contemplate wars in places that are not in our national interest.

Ordinary decent Americans are weary of being ruled by the clueless class.

We spent two years fighting lockdowns, masks and vaccine mandates driven by those with a psychotic fear of Covid.

Now they’ve forgotten Covid and the same people who didn’t give a rat’s patootie about freedom and civil liberties in the US during the pandemic are all in on fighting for Ukraine.

If these Ukrainian lovers are serious they should grab helmets and make their way over join the freedom fighters.

The Ukrainians are brave people. Vladimir Putin is a diabolical dictator. I wish the Ukrainians well in their battle against evil. I hope they win.

But this is not our fight. Count me out.
