Ukraine’s First Couple Pose For Vogue Cover Shoot

On Thursday I left you hanging. So, to end the suspense, here it is:

No, we didn’t win the raffle for the wild pony. Yes, there were tears.

And because nothing is more fascinating than an account of someone else’s vacation, we’ll have Part II of Kerry of Chincoteague on Saturday.

In the meantime I managed to turn off the news for two days, although I cheated a little Thursday morning by checking Twitter to see if Biden’s Recession had officially begun. It had. Then again, for most of us it started 18 months ago.

Upon my return to real life I was surprised to find that Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his comely wife Olena are featured in Vogue online.

Quite the sexy couple. Terrible optics, however.

Trying to imagine General Dwight Eisenhower and Mamie pulling a similar publicity stunt on the eve of Normandy. Nope. Can’t do it.

So this is for all of you who couldn’t find Ukraine on the map a year ago and who now have the Ukraine flag in your profile pic, or worse, hanging by your front door where your American flag ought to be:

You’ve been played.

Any world leader who can put a war on hold long enough to pose for Annie Leibovitz glamour shots is not wholly engaged in that conflict.

For months now, Zelenskyy has been taking war breaks to canoodle with the rich and famous. Stars have been flocking to mug with the meticulously branded tough guy. Among them: Ben Stiller, Angelina Jolie and Sean Penn.

Oh and let’s not forget Jill Biden - er, Dr. Jill - who dropped by for a photo op recently.

Since when do we send First Ladies into war zones?

After Biden’s sloppy retreat from Afghanistan last summer many of us don’t trust him to make military or foreign policy decisions. Especially in a situation where one stray bullet or bomb could instantly move this from a proxy war with Russia to an actual one.

Obama was right when he warned never to “underestimate Biden’s ability to (deleted) things up.”

Ukraine can get a lot worse. If Biden has anything to do with it, that’ll happen.

Look, if the First Couple of Ukraine wants to pose for a fashion magazine, that’s fine with me. As long as they aren’t using their interview to get more money out of American taxpayers. When exactly, is it enough?

Volodymyr and Olena are today’s international It couple. If Vogue wants to make them cover girls, fine.

But the Biden administration needs to stop fleecing the American public to underwrite the Volodymyr and Olena show.

Without at least a thorough accounting of where the first $50 billion or so went.
