What the heck is wrong with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan?

Has this bizarre woman completely lost her mind?

When I first saw this video on X I was speechless. Believe me, that doesn’t happen often.

It’s not a stretch to say Whitmer, one of the rising stars in the increasingly godless Democrat party and a future presidential candidate, is openly mocking Catholicism.

Apparently there’s a stupid meme on TikTok where idiot influencers feed each other food and then stare vacantly at the camera. Sorry, that does not begin to explain what’s going on in this offensive - dare we call it sacrilegious? - video.

Whitmer isn’t just mocking Catholicism, she’s ridiculing the sacrament of Holy Eucharist, which Catholics believe to be the physical presence of Jesus.

The governor is one of Kamala Harris’ main surrogates and Whitmer’s job is to  deliver her swing state to the vice president on Election Night. Recent polls show a tight race with the lead bouncing back and forth between Harris and Donald Trump.

So why would Whitmer intentionally offend Michigan’s almost 2 million Catholics? They make up 17.5% of Michigan voters.

I have no answer to that question. There is no way this vile woman didn’t know what she was doing.

Whitmer’s actions have repercussions beyond the borders of Michigan, of course. There are roughly 68 million Catholics in the U.S. and they comprise 25 to 27% of the national vote.

While there are an inexplicable number of abortion enthusiasts who also claim to be Catholic, few would find this parody of Holy Communion entertaining. There are some lines that simply aren’t crossed.

And yes, I know, leftie apologists will bloviate about TikTok memes and how humorless the right is. Let them. It’s obvious the left loathes people of faith, be they Jews or Christians.

It’s worth noting that Harris already has a Catholic problem. Not only is she an unabashed abortion enthusiast, but she turned down an invitation to attend the Al Smith Dinner in New York on October 17th. That dinner is a presidential-year tradition dating back to 1946 and it honors Al Smith, the first Catholic candidate for president. (The governor of New York lost to Herbert Hoover in 1928.)

The nominees of both parties attend the black tie event and roast each other. This year’s emcee is Jim Gaffigan. Donald Trump will be there as he was in 2016, sparring with Hillary Clinton. In 2020, the affair was held on Zoom due to fears of covid. Both Trump and Joe Biden took part.

Only one other candidate in 78 years has shunned the dinner: Walter Mondale in 1984.

And we all know what happened to him.
