Biden Predictably Calls For Gun Control After WI School Shooting

If you were part of the he-deserved-it chorus, the health-insurance-executives-are-murderers glee club, the violence-is-bad-BUT cult, do the rest of us a favor and don’t demand gun control now.

Sit this one out.

Brian Thompson, a health insurance executive, was shot to death December 4th on a Manhattan sidewalk. His children were left fatherless, his wife a widow. And yet the far-left shrugged at the Thompson family tragedy.

Some, like former New York Times and Washington Post reporter Taylor Lorenz felt “joy” over the cold-blooded slaying.

The gun control crowd was curiously silent. Which is odd, because they usually have a rapid reaction to any shooting. Even if the shooter had already violated half a dozen existing laws.

In fact, lefties turned Thompson’s alleged killer, Luigi Mangione, into a folk hero. A modern-day Robin Hood. So good looking, too. He has an entire fangirl club. A anonymous supporters raised $125,000 for Mangione’s legal defense through a GiveSendGo fundraiser.

In the aftermath of the Thompson shooting leftists didn’t want to talk about guns. Instead, they wanted to talk about the evil health insurance industry and how Thompson had it coming.

Fast forward 12 days to a tragic school shooting in Madison, WI.

On Monday a 15-year-old female student at the Abundant Life Christian School, went on a shooting spree that reportedly left two people dead and six injured, two critically. The shooter killed herself, according to police.

Without waiting for details Joe Biden called for gun control.

“We need Congress to act. Now. From Newtown to Uvalde, Parkland to Madison, to so many other shootings that don’t receive attention — it is unacceptable that we are unable to protect our children from this scourge of gun violence. We cannot continue to accept it as normal," Biden said in a statement.

Wait a minute. Isn’t this the same guy who just pardoned his son on gun charges?

Perhaps he should sit this one out, too.

I hesitate to remind Joe, but guns are already illegal on school property. And teenagers cannot legally own a handgun, which was the weapon reportedly used in this crime. Which new law exactly would have prevented this shooting?

In the aftermath of school shootings it’s always the same: the left demands gun control, never admitting that what they really want is gun confiscation.

Those who support gun rights point out that the shooter was most likely mentally ill, possibly on psychotropic drugs commonly prescribed to troubled teens. They point out that the mental health crisis - especially among teens - in this country is out of control.

Within hours of the shooting a Googledoc emerged, supposedly the girl’s manifesto. If it turns out to be authentic, she was driven to murder and suicide by a seething hatred of men. Clearly a mental case.

School shootings are an abomination. There are proven ways to prevent some acts of these acts of violence: Expelling troublemakers from school property is one way. Hardening the targets is another.

By putting metal detectors at all school entrances and school resource officers in every building some school shooters will be stopped.

Instead of pouring money into DEI and CRT, the government could provide grants to all schools - public and private - for enhanced security and mental health services.

Instead, the predictable gun control battle cry is the only solution offered by the left.

Even after they reveal that it’s not the shooting that bothers them, but who got shot.
