We’re All Christian Nationalists Now

I guess I’m a Christian nationalist. Odd. Until now I thought I was just an ordinary American.

"The thing that unites them as Christian nationalists, not Christians because Christian nationalists are very different, is that they believe that our rights as Americans and as all human beings do not come from any Earthly authority. They don't come from Congress, from the Supreme Court, they come from God," she explained. "The problem with that is that they are determining, men, are determining what God is telling them

The woman demonstrating her profound ignorance of America’s revolutionary principles on MSNBC is a national investigative journalist for Politico. She claims to be an award-winning journalist.

Her name is Heidi Przybyla. She is 50 years old and yet she has no idea what it is that makes the United States unique among nations.

She’s what passes for a left-wing intellectual.

Przybyla graduated from Michigan State University. (If one of your kids wants to become a Spartan, tell them to reconsider.)

For Ms. Przybyla’s edification and for anyone else who slept through civics class, this is not the definition of a Christian nationalist, no matter how hard the left tries to smear patriotic Americans that way.

All Americans should believe that our rights come from God. Or, for the secular humanists among us, that these are natural rights. In other words, we are born with the rights and liberties we enjoy as free people.

We are not property of the government. Our rights are not bestowed on us by our government, by a sovereign or by any manmade institution. Our Constitution does not grant us rights, it protects our God-given rights by restricting the government from stomping all over them.

Remember, any government that gives its people rights can yank them away. Just look at China, Russia and even Canada to see that in action.

Yes,  we saw many of these abuses right here in America, too, during Covid. (Looking at you, Ralph Northam, closer of churches.) The people should have risen up and defied the government. But fear of a virus cowed too many into silence.

This founding principle - that our rights were given to us by our creator - is what set the United States apart from other nations from its inception in 1776.

In fact, it’s there in the Declaration of Independence:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.

In case you’re wondering who that familiar-looking fellow is sitting to Przybyla’s right and nodding in agreement, that’s former Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele. In 2020 he endorsed Joe Biden for president, got a gig with MSNBC and apparently lost much of his brainpower.
