Hey girls, remember when we had safe spaces?

Oh, we didn’t call them that. They were simply locker rooms, restrooms and changing rooms that were marked with one word: “Ladies” on the door.

They were places where we could disrobe and attend to our feminine needs, without worrying about men lurking nearby.

Back then, if a man entered a ladies room he’d get the boot. If he displayed his genitalia the cops would be called and he’d be charged with indecent exposure.

No more. At least not in some places.

As swimmer Riley Gaines tells it, she and the other female elite swimmers in 2022 had no idea they would be forced to share a locker rom with a “fully intact 6’4” male” at the NCAA championships. If Lia Thomas hadn’t been a competitor who identified as female, he would have been arrested.

Instead he marched  off with a trophy.

Now this:

A woman in Fairbanks, Alaska claims she was in the locker room of her Planet Fitness recently when a man - who apparently identifies as a woman but hasn’t been taking adequate hormones - was shaving in the sink.

There was a 12-year-old girl in the locker room at the same time.

The New York Post reports:

Also present: “a little girl sitting in the corner. She could have been 12-years-old … in a towel kind of freaked out,” Silva said in a video posted to Facebook.

“I was offended, I took a picture of him,” she said, adding that she asked why he was there because he is “a man with a penis … you shouldn’t be in a women’s locker room’.”

Silva said the man, who had been shaving his face, responded that he was “queer.”

Next thing she knew, Silva says, HER membership was cancelled.

Planet Fitness stands by its bizarre decision:

“Our gender identity non-discrimination policy states that members and guests may use the facilities that best align with the sincere, self-reported gender identity.”

According to Yahoo finance, this isn’t Planet Fitness’s first gender rodeo:

The issue has been going on since at least 2015 when Planet Fitness revoked the membership of Yvette Cormier after she voiced concerns upon encountering a biological man identifying as a transgender woman at a Michigan location. This resulted in a lawsuit against Planet Fitness. Cormier's complaint ultimately succeeded with the Appeals Court for the State of Michigan finding that Planet Fitness violated the Consumer Protection Act and its contract with Cormier because her membership promised access to a private women’s locker room, which was not provided.

What could possibly go wrong when males enter female spaces? This:

In 2023, a biological male was arrested after exposing himself to a 15-year-old in a Planet Fitness women's locker room. The male, who was arrested, allegedly approached the minor in a Planet Fitness restroom while she was showering and pulled back the curtain while he was standing completely exposed, then harassed her until she left. It's unclear whether this incident was connected to the Planet Fitness policy or the perpetrator’s gender identity.

Looks like Planet Fitness may get the Bud Light treatment. #BoycottPlanetFitness has been trending on social media and its stock lost 4% of its market cap on trading Tuesday.
