Men In Women’s Basketball? Hell No.
Ironic, isn’t it.
During what was undeniably the best week in history for women’s basketball, with record-breaking television audiences and near hero worship of Iowa phenom, Caitlin Clark, South Carolina coach Dawn Staley said she supported the ruination of the sport by allowing men who believe they’re women to play against her girls.
Hear her for yourself:
I just can’t.
I wish the reporter had followed up by asking Staley which of her players she’d like to dump in favor of a taller, stronger man.
Staley was a stand-out player at the University of Virginia and ACC player of the year. She’s a three time Olympic gold medalist, and a member of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. She’s had a storied coaching career, too, leading South Carolina on Sunday to an undefeated season and third national title.
But I wonder how the 5’6” former point guard would have fared if she’d been forced to play against hulking 6’10” men?
Look, women’s sports are under siege from mediocre male athletes who grow their hair, swallow some estogen, slap on some lipstick and pretend to be women. Men are bigger, stronger and faster than most females and those of us who support women’s sports and want girls to have the same opportunities men have enjoyed for so long, can’t stand to see these athletes elbowed off awards podiums by grown men.
It’s not fair.
Frankly, it’s shocking to see so many feminists sucking their thumbs - or worse, cheering the men in womanface - while these guys make a mockery of female athletes and steal their medals.
I doubt Dawn Staley really believes men should play with or against her girls. She knows that’s a recipe for defeat and injuries. But the woke culture is strong and nasty. Dare to speak out against this sort of cheating in sports and you’re called transphobic.
So be it.
Time for coaches, parents and the adults in America to grow a pair and stand up for young women. They’ve trained and toiled and deserve to play on a level playing field .
One without men.
