Joe Biden Says Drunk Driving Is No Big Deal

Joe Biden Says Drunk Driving Is No Big Deal

Joe Biden is a pandering nitwit.

During one of the Democratic debates in September Biden actually said that he didn’t believe non-violent offenders should be in prison. This was when he was courting the soft-on-crime vote.

“Nobody should be in jail for a nonviolent crime,” Biden bloviated.

The blockheads moderating the debate didn’t follow up, of course. Someone should have asked Biden if he thought pervert Anthony Weiner deserved his prison sentence. How about Bernie Madoff? Or corrupt former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich? They’re all non-violent criminals.

Such drivel from someone who wants to be president.

Now Biden’s turned his attention to illegal immigrants. He’s threatening to fire ICE agents who apprehend illegals who have committed crimes that he doesn’t consider serious.

Like drunk driving.

“(ICE should) only arrest for a felony that’s committed and I don’t consider drunk driving a felony,” Biden said this week in a TV interview.

Odd, plenty of states do. For second and subsequent offenses, that is. And it’s a crime almost everywhere.

Beyond that, it’s a deadly act that results in about 10,000 fatalities a year in the U.S.  And thousands of illegals are arrested annually for drunken driving.

According to the 2019 ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Report, 25,417 illegals who were rounded up for immigration violations last year had been arrested for DUI. A total of 74,523 charges. That averages out to about three DUIs per person.

That’s a crime wave.

Imagine how different things might have been if Chesapeake law enforcement had called in ICE when an illegal immigrant from Mexico, 22-year-old Alfredo Ramos, was convicted of DUI in that city in 2006.

They didn’t, of course. And it was reported that authorities never asked the young drunk about his immigration status because they didn’t want to be seen racially profiling a Hispanic driver.

Here’s a thought: When a person is stopped by the police for drunk driving and needs an interpreter to understand what’s being said to him, it’s not racial profiling to ask his or her immigration status.

It’s common sense.

If Chesapeake authorities had done the right thing, Ramos would not have been driving under the influence AGAIN on March 30, 2007 - his BAC was three times the legal limit - when he plowed into the back of a car at a red light on Virginia Beach Boulevard.

Inside were two teenaged girls: Tessa Tranchant,16, and her best friend, 17-year-old Ali Kunhardt. The girls had to be cut out of the twisted wreckage of the car. Both died that night.

Ramos was uninjured. It was his second DUI and third alcohol-related offense.

A senseless, preventable tragedy. One that never would have happened if law enforcement had taken DUI seriously and summoned ICE to deport this irresponsible hairball.

Biden can pander to illegals all he wants. But when he talks about drunk driving being an inconsequential crime, one that shouldn’t result in deportation, he’s gone too far.

Every intoxicated driver is a potential killer. We’re stuck with our homegrown drunks, who belong in jail.

Illegals who drive drunk need to be turned over to ICE and booted from the country.

Ramos will be deported. As soon as he finishes serving his 24-year prison sentence.
