Americans Paid For The Covid Vaccine. It’s Ours.
It’s worse than we thought. A lot worse.
Earlier this week I sounded the alarm over the inclusion of Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel on Joe Biden’s Covid-19 advisory committee.
This guy, the brother of Democratic operative and former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, is dangerous.
Should Biden become president, this far-left globalist will have the ear of our C-student president who’s dazzled by fear-mongers with MD after their names. The doctors he chooses to follow preach the gospel of lockdowns and economic and mental disaster in the name of controlling a virus that 99 percent of us can survive.
Insane.
Now we learn that Emanuel also believes that once a vaccine is manufactured America should line up behind other countries to get it.
That’s a hard no.
In an article in the September issue of “Science” he argued that it would be unethical for the U.S. to get the first batches of vaccine. Emanuel favors a system he calls the “Fair Priority Model” to distribute vaccines around the world.
A variation on Karl Marx’s “each according to his needs.”
At one point in his piece Emanuel suggested that at the start three percent of the vaccine should go to each country.
He even coined a word for those of us who disagree with this lunacy: Vaccine Nationalists.
Public sentiment in some countries for retaining vaccine developed within their borders is strong... But an ethical framework has broad relevance even in the face of nationalist attitudes.
I’m a proud vaccine nationalist. I’d like to remind Dr. Emanuel that American taxpayers have a $1.95 billion deal with Pfizer to buy those first 100 million doses.
Those vaccines are ours. Every single one of them. Pray that Donald Trump is in the White House when Pfizer’s vaccine is approved. He’ll make sure Americans get what they paid for.
The Army will begin distributing the vaccine the day after Pfizer gets the approval of the FDA. Some of the first Americans to receive inoculations will be front-line workers.
Bad idea, according to the all-knowing Emanuel. He suggests that front-line workers in affluent countries already have plenty of PPE, those vaccines ought to go to countries with a shortage of protective equipment.
Oh please.
Let’s call dibs on the vaccines that WE bought. We should also call American dibs on any other vaccines or therapeutics that were developed with money - a staggering $11.31 billion if my math is correct - that Trump allocated through Operation Warp Speed, a program designed to guarantee the U.S. more than 300 million doses of the vaccine. Enough for every man, woman and child in the country.
We have millions of vulnerable Americans who are prisoners in their own homes. Some will be able to take the vaccine, others will be freed when we achieve herd immunity. We need to get a safe, effective vaccine to America’s 300 million people as soon as possible.
What Trump unleashed with this ambitious program was a race for a cure. He liberally spread our tax dollars around, hedging our bets, with companies like Johnson & Johnson, GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, Moderna and Eli Lilly.
If the vaccines are safe and effective we should get them first.
That’s the only fair model.
The notion that a Biden presidency means that America could join some equitable distribution model, orchestrated by one-world radicals like Emanuel and the World Health organization - which lied about the severity of the virus and how it spread - is horrifying.
Elections have consequences. Sometimes dire ones.
Americans have suffered under the thumbs of dictatorial governors for about as long as we can stand. Their catastrophic lockdowns and futile mask mandates are no match for a highly contagious virus.
The only thing that will stop Covid-19 is an effective vaccine.
We paid for those pharmaceuticals. They’re ours.
