Shanghai: 26 Million Stuck In Dystopian Nightmare

Shanghai: 26 Million Stuck In Dystopian Nightmare

We’re waiting.

Those of us who opposed lockdowns, mask mandates, vaccine mandates and who argued against closing schools and businesses are waiting for the government - federal and state, Republican and Democrat - to admit that they were wrong. We’re waiting for them to concede that their mitigations did little to “slow the spread” of Covid-19 and that worse, they irreparably harmed many businesses and damaged millions of schoolchildren with their stump-headed policies.

They’ll never apologize, of course.

Hardcore members of Team Apocalypse sneer that America “never really locked down.“ If we had, they claim, we could have crushed Covid.

Well, they’re locked down in Shanghai right now and the results are horrifying.

Yet I have no doubt that some in the world of public health secretly regret that they didn’t get to try this in the U.S.

Shanghai is described as a cosmopolitan Chinese city with 26 million residents. During the latest installment of the communist government’s “zero Covid” policies, much of that city is under a hard lockdown.

Residents can’t leave their apartments. Infected people are being sent to quarantine camps. Mothers are being separated from their babies.  People are subject to mandatory government-run Covid testing, sometimes several times a day. Healthcare workers are killing the dogs and cats of those who test positive. Food is running out and there are reports of a spate of suicides.

Then there’s this:

The above video clip went viral over the weekend. It’s a recording of hungry and frustrated Shanghai residents screaming from their high-rise apartments.

In response, drones were deployed to warn the people to “Please comply with Covid restrictions. Control your soul’s desire for freedom. Do not open the windows or sing.”

The scenes are Orwellian and have been compared to images from the dark 1982 Ridley Scott movie, “Blade Runner.”

This totalitarian nightmare is the direct result of ruthless, inhumane, irrational government policies that value the collective over the individual.

Take a good look because this is where the radical “if-it-saves-one-life” school of thought ends, if left unchecked.

Why are 26 million people obeying insane orders and doing nothing about it but screaming from their balconies?

That’s easy: No Second Amendment in China.
