Virginia Senators Support Forced Masking Of Poor Children
Just when we thought the country had come to its senses about the relative uselessness of masks, 41 U.S. Senators remind us that there are still dunces out there who want to slap masks on little faces.
Make that, little poor faces.
A bipartisan resolution passed the U.S. Senate this week demanding that the Biden Administration drop its forced masking of the more than 1 million underprivileged children enrolled in the nation’s Head Start programs.
Biden’s mandate forces these youngsters to wear face coverings, even on the playground. This, despite ample evidence that masks are never needed outdoors, that children learn better when they can see the faces of their friends and teachers, and that cloth masks do almost nothing to stop the spread of covid.
So while bars, restaurants and stadiums are packed, while Washington elites gather shoulder to shoulder to celebrate themselves, and most school kids are finally free of muzzles, poor children enrolled in Head Start are stuck in soggy masks all day.
The resolution to end this madness was introduced by Sen. John Thune of South Dakota who made this announcement on Tuesday:
JUST PASSED: My resolution to stop the Biden admin rule that forced children in head start facilities to wear masks – even on the playground. A bipartisan majority agrees this rule is a gross overreach of the federal government and must stop now.
Forty one Democrats voted no, including Virginia Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine.
All Republicans voted for the measure. Seven Democrats joined them in exhibiting good sense. Or political savvy: Tester of Montana, Rosen and Cortez Masto of Nevada, Ossoff of Georgia, Kelly and Sinema of Arizona and Manchin of West Virginia.
Warner and Kaine aren’t stupid, they’re political hacks. They know that children are at very low risk of Covid. They also know that there are no medical-grade masks for kids and that cloth masks are nothing more than facial decorations.
Nevertheless, they mindlessly marched along with their party, supporting useless and unpleasant restrictions on poor children.
Shame on these two.
