We ended our election night broadcast at 2 a.m. once it seemed certain Donald Trump had won the presidency.

We’re back on the air at 6 a.m.

I’ll have lots to write about this stunning election when I can catch a nap and collect my thoughts.

If you asked for the names of my favorite writers, Tana French would be in the top five.

Maybe the top one!

She’s an Irish crime novelist with a delightful eye for detail and an uncanny ear for conversation.

In “The Searcher” we meet Cal Hooper, a retired Chicago police detective who’s just weathered a brutal American divorce. He buys a plot of land in the rural west of Ireland where he hopes to quietly grow crops and hone his carpentry skills.

Cal becomes acquainted with a neglected, fatherless girl called Trey whose older brother has gone missing. While everyone assumes the teen left Ireland for the same reason so many young Irish men do - to find a better life in Britain or America - his sister is convinced he was murdered.

Suddenly Cal finds himself teaching woodworking to the surprisingly talented girl while getting drawn into the mystery of her missing brother.

You won’t be able to put this many-layered mystery novel down.
