Pete Hegseth: Don’t Back Down.
Here are five words for those anonymous cowards defaming Pete Hegseth, Trump’s choice for Secretary of Defense:
Stand up or shut up.
So far every slice of salacious slander about this decorated veteran has been eagerly gobbled up by left-wing news outlets. Never mind that all of the accusations have come from anonymous sources.
Back when I was a newspaper journalist, none of their scurrilous charges would have been printed. Anonymous sources were almost always verboten in actual journalism.
No more. The legacy media is caught up in a Hegseth feeding frenzy, printing every rumor or half-truth that get tossed their way, while ignoring the dozens of on-the-record statements of support that Hegseth has from his co-worker at Fox, from the veteran’s group he headed and from his brothers in arms.
Once they drove Matt Gaetz out of the would-be Trump cabinet, the left-wing establishment trained their sites on Hegseth. If they’re able to get him, it’ll be Tulsi Gabbard next. Then RFK jr. Then Linda McMahon.
There’s blood in the water and the sharks can smell it.
Odd. I didn’t notice them jumping on the Doug Emhoff-slugged-a-woman-in-the-face story. The reason? No on-the-record sources for the story. Imagine having a wife beater married to the first woman president. No interest by the legacy media.
The corrupt media that is fuming after failing to elect Kamala Harris and has now turned its fury on Trump’s cabinet nominees. They are trying to pick them off one by one.
This is why it is imperative for Hegseth to fight and for Trump to have his back. Show weakness and Trump will be struggling to get his cabinet approved into the summer of 2025.
Political pundit Mark Halperin - who correctly predicted that Joe Biden would drop out of the race the weekend he did - now predicts that Hegseth will be out by the weekend.
That’s tomorrow.
Let’s hope Halperin is wrong.
The fact that The New York Times is apoplectic about Hegseth leading the Pentagon is a sign that he’s the right man for the job. Hegseth has an Ivy League education, a stellar military career and worked with a veteran’s group before moving to weekend host at Fox News.
That didn’t stop the lowlifes at The Times from publishing an angry email that Hegseth’s mother fired off at her son in 2018 while he was in the midst of a bitter divorce from his second wife.
Mrs. Hegseth explained to the Times’ reporter that she immediately regretted her words and sent an apology to Pete the same day. She asked the newspaper not to publish this highly personal exchange between a mother and son.
The Times published the email on Sunday.
Despicable.
Like Trump, Hegseth would be a disrupter at Defense. Focused, as he likes to say, on the “lethality” of the military rather than on DEI and wokeness, Hegseth could reinvigorate the American armed forces and even gin up recruiting. On top of that, Hegseth has no ties to the military-industrial complex or the neocons on Capitol Hill who have profited handsomely from decades of endless wars.
That makes him more, not less, attractive for the job.
Presidents are entitled to the cabinets of their choice, Traditionally, senators from both parties vote to confirm most nominees.
Many of the sitting GOP senators voted to approve the freak show that was the Biden cabinet.
They owe it to the leader of their party to vote yes on Trump’s cabinet picks. In a fair world, they’d be joined by all but the most partisan hacks on the other side of the aisle.
