Illegal Immigrant Arrested For Killing Georgia Nursing Student
Imagine the unimaginable:
Imagine the grief of the Riley family. Their daughter, Laken, a 22-year-old nursing student, was killed last Thursday while out for a run near the University of Georgia’s intramural fields.
Now imagine your rage - if that was your daughter - at the Biden administration for its reckless open borders policy that allowed the alleged Venezuelan killer to roam the US at will.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Sunday confirmed that the Venezuelan national charged in connection with the murder of 22-year-old Georgia nursing student Laken Riley entered the U.S. illegally in 2022 and had previously been arrested in New York City.
Fox News had previously reported that 26-year-old Jose Antonio Ibarra, charged with the murder of Riley on the University of Georgia campus, had crossed into the U.S. illegally near El Paso in September 2022 and was paroled into the U.S.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, ICE confirmed he had been encountered by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on Sept. 8, 2022 after entering near El Paso and was "paroled and released for further processing.”
ICE also confirmed that Ibarra had been arrested by the New York Police Department a year later, on Sept. 14, 2023, and "charged with acting in a manner to injure a child less than 17 and a motor vehicle license violation.
When ICE learns that what it believes to be a removable illegal immigrant has been arrested on criminal charges, the agency will normally lodge a detainer – a request asking local law enforcement to keep the suspect in custody until they can be transferred to ICE and put into deportation proceedings.
In this case, however, ICE's statement says Ibarra was released before a detainer could be issued. NYC is also a "sanctuary city," which generally restricts law enforcement from complying with ICE detainers.”
In other words, thanks to New York’s insane policies, this illegal was allowed to remain in the US even after two encounters with law enforcement. (The first, of course, was with Biden’s border patrol.)
As so many Americans mourn the death of Russian dissident Alexei Navalny in a Russian gulag, how many will match that outrage over the senseless death of one of our own at the apparent hands of an illegal immigrant?
If Navalny’s death makes you angry and Laken Riley’s doesn’t, you’re a damn hypocrite.
The Russian knew his life was in peril. He bravely fought to unseat Vladimir Putin anyway. Laken Riley had no hand in her own death. She was a college student out for a run on a sunny day. She allegedly crossed paths with an illegal immigrant that Joe Biden had turned loose on the country and that’s where her story ends.
She’ll never graduate from college, get married, have children or become a nurse. She’s gone at 22 most likely because for three years the open borders crowd has allowed about 10 million illegals to park themselves in the US. Many are here to be part of the land of opportunity. But an unknown number are violent criminals, gang members and foreign operatives.
.
Virginia has also had it’s share of tragedies due to illegals. The most memorable were the horrible deaths on March 30, 2007 of Virginia Beach teens, Tessa Tranchant, 16 and Ali Kunhardt, 17. They died when an illegal alien named Alfredo Ramos plowed his car into the rear of theirs, stopped at a red light on Virginia Beach Boulevard.
They’re gone, but their killer lives on in a Virginia prison.
It’s long past time we stopped illegal aliens from entering the country. We can start by getting rid of their enablers in Washington.
