The American Presidency: The Ultimate No-Show Job

The American Presidency: The Ultimate No-Show Job

Let’s not pretend this is normal.

There is absolutely nothing normal about the most powerful country on earth being leaderless while two wars rage and others simmer.

On Tuesday, some on the left were furious when Donald Trump joined families at Arlington Cemetery to remember the servicemen and women who died at Abbey Gate in Afghanistan and to honor those who were maimed during Biden’s reckless surrender to the Taliban.

There, on the third anniversary of that debacle, Trump somberly laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

How dare he! Some exclaimed.

Who gave Trump permission to use Arlington for a photo op? Others wanted to know.

This is the job of the president not a former president, others sniffed indignantly.

I apologize for the vulgar language. The left is filled with potty mouths.

Those who observed that normally it’s the president who does the wreath laying on special occasions were not wrong. Problem is, we no longer have a president.

What we have is a deposed, disgraced, irrelevant and incoherent old man who’s so humiliated about the way he was disposed by his party that he decided to stop going to work. Not that Joe Biden ever broke a sweat before last month’s coup.

After delivering a late-night speech on the first night of the DNC Joe Biden toddled onto Air Force One with his family and flew to Santa Ynez, California to stay free-of-charge at the 8,000 acre ranch of billionaire donor Joe Kiani.

(Didn’t Democrats raise a ruckus when Justice Clarence Thomas accepted similar largesse from his wealthy friends?)

On Sunday night, the Bidens flew East and headed to their multi-million dollar estate in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware for a 9-day vacation.

Biden is on his 114th visit to Delaware spanning all or part of 328 days, according to journalist Mark Knoeller who tracks presidential travel. That is much more when compared to Donald Trump at a similar point in office: he spent 51 visits and 240 days at either of his estates in Mar-a-Lago, Fla., or Bedminster, N.J., reports Fox News.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris was preparing to barnstorm through Georgia with Tim Walz on a campaign bus.

What do we have here? Biden’s schedule for today:

EDT

10:00 AM President Biden receives the President’s Daily Brief

Yep. That’s it. And news flash: the president gets the daily brief every single day of his presidency.

This guy has absolutely nothing on his schedule. He had nothing on it last week and won’t return to the White House until next Tuesday.

I hesitate to ask, but who’s running the country?

The answer, I’m guessing, is the same puppeteers who have been pulling Biden’s strings since he took office and began to lose his mind.

Antony Blinken and a team of faceless White House aides.

Still, it’s disconcerting for the world to turn its eyes to America and see a vacant White House.

Just as there’s nothing normal about a presidential candidate who never received a single primary vote, there is nothing normal about a man who treats the American presidency as a no-show job.

Biden should step down. Or step up.
