Trump Assassination Attempt, Part II
Excuse me for not hopping on the Secret-Service-is-doing-a-splendid-job-keeping-Donald-Trump-alive-while-the-left-spews-inflammatory-rhetoric train.
Two months and three days ago an 18-year-old loser paraded around on the rooftop of a Butler, PA building in full view of Secret Service and 150 yards from the former POTUS another lone gunman got close to Trump on Sunday.
In July, the young scumbag managed to get off at least four shots before security killed him. One shot came within an inch of blowing off Donald Trump’s head, the other rounds injured two men and killed Pennsylvania firefighter Corey Comparatore.
Turned out the Secret Service’s version of F Troop was in charge of security at Trump’s outdoor rally that day. Soon after, the head of the Secret Service resigned and the public was assured that Trump would henceforth receive topnotch protection.
Ahem.
Yet on Sunday another murderous lowlife, this one armed with a rifle and a Go-Pro, nearly shot Trump as he golfed on his private course. It’s been reported that Ryan Routh, 58, spent about 12 hours on the golf course. Routh’s phone pinged there at 1:59 am, the barrel of his gun drew the attention of security at 1:30 pm. Yet no one realized he was there until they saw his weapon.
“Secret Service did a fantastic job,” gushed Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw.
Seriously?
How exactly was a man with a loaded rifle able to get within 500 yards of the former president just two months after the first assassination attempt?
In a press conference after Routh was arrested, law enforcement explained that the sniper’s nest was outside the security perimeter for presidential candidates and situated in some bushes. If this were the sitting president, it was pointed out, that perimeter would have encompassed far more territory.
In other words, Trump doesn’t merit the same level of security Joe Biden gets.
This isn’t hard:
Enlarge the area of protection for Trump, for God’s sake.
In fact, Rep. Darryl Issa is ready to force the Secret Service to do just that.
Still, Sunday’s presser was full of self-congratulatory words for security on the golf course.
Let’s think about this, shall we?
The suspect set up his sniper’s nest in bushes adjacent to the private golf club. Once the muzzle of Routh’s gun was spotted poking through a fence they came charging, guns blazing.
Yet these sharpshooters missed their mark and the suspect escaped, jumped in his car and drove away.
Luckily, a bystander noticed the guy and took a photo of the back of the car, capturing the license plate.
I hesitate to point this out, but the would-be assassin was in the next county before he was captured. Had it not been for a quick-thinking bystander, he might still be at large.
Here’s the truth: The nasty, inflammatory rhetoric spewing from the left is inciting violence against the former president.
In fact, the Trump campaign posted a list of reprehensible quotes from Biden, Harris and other Democrats.
If Joe Biden won’t order beefed up security for Donald Trump, Congress must step in.
Sooner or later, Trump’s going to run out of luck.
Good for Gov. Ron DeSantis. Thanks to him, we may finally find out what motivated this latest crazy person. Chances are Thomas Crooks will forever be an enigma.
