A Parliament Of Boobs
If you all you knew about American government was what you saw at Congressional confirmation hearings you’d believe that the country is run by buffoons.
To a large part, it is.
Take Bernie Sanders, for instance. The socialist from Vermont, who was once reportedly kicked out of hippie commune for being lazy, never disappoints.
When Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says Americans are obese and chronically ill and we should all join together to fix this, a Greek chorus of Democrats rises up to cry, “But what about the poor drug companies!”
Here Sanders is on Wednesday haranguing Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about whether he is “supportive of these onesies.”
Watch it again and look over RFK’s shoulder. That’s podcaster Megyn Kelly cracking up at the infantile antics in the hearing room.
Here he is on Thursday, sputtering and flushing crimson when RFK Jr. pointed out that in 2020 Sanders took more money from Big Pharma than anyone else running for president.
Closer to home, some of us thought that nothing could embarrass the commonwealth more than Sen. Tim Kaine’s weird fixation on Pete Hegseth’s sex life during Hegseth’s confirmation hearing last week.
Hold my beer, said Sen. Mark Warner who on Wednesday embarked on two days worth of rude, petulant often moronic questioning of two nominees: RFK Jr and Tulsi Gabbard.
He didn’t ask a single probative question. Instead, Warner used his time to sophmorically lecture the nominee, pretend to pose a question and then quickly interrupt the nominee to hector him or her some more.
In short, the man’s a jerk.
Oh, and here’s Warner acting as if the federal government is a jobs program.
Someone needs to tell the bloviation machine from Virginia that protecting the jobs of federal goldbrickers is not a good look.
The American people - especially those of us who go to work every day - are sick of underwriting it.
Perhaps Warner hasn’t noticed the deficit. Perhaps he missed the November election when the voters put Trump in office with a mandate: Slash government size and spending.
Remember, when they claim to be acting on principle, that they both voted to confirm this man.
