Far Left Stages Polident Protests
If you needed one more reason to toss your copy of the local newspaper directly into the recycling bin on Sunday, there was this:
“Region Rises Up”?
Seriously?
Another case of an excitable weekend headline writer sacrificing accuracy for alliteration.
The Hampton Roads Region has a population of about 1.7 million. If a couple of thousand of sore losers gathered with hand-lettered protest signs in Norfolk on a sunny Saturday, that hardly merits such a sweeping headline.
Unless, of course, it fits your legacy media anti-Trump narrative.
I don’t know about you but I was out and about on Saturday. I didn’t notice an uprising. Did you? All I saw were folks enjoying the balmy summer temperatures.
Yet, apparently “more than 2,000” aging protesters showed up at Norfolk’s Town Point Park on Saturday for a struggle session as they work their way through the fifth stage of grief. They vented their anger over the Trump’s administration’s efforts to ferret out waste, fraud and abuse in government agencies
That’s an odd thing to be protesting.
Incidentally, you could almost smell the Ben-Gay just from looking at the photos of the Boomers. Anyone with an Ensure pushcart could have made a killing.
I hesitate to point this out, but Kamala Harris handily won deep blue Norfolk with 60% of the vote. Of the 59,941 Norfolk residents who voted for her, it appears a tiny percentage decided to give up their Saturday to express their outrage at the man who beat her. The man who promised to end illegal immigration, reduce the size of government, levy tariffs on nations that tariff our goods and clean up the swamp.
Looks like Andrew Klavan was right a few weeks ago when he predicted that it wouldn’t be long before the far left took to the streets to chant:
What do we want? FRAUD. When do we want it? NOW!
The local protests were part of an organized and nationally coordinated “Hands Off” campaign that gathered together an unholy alliance of pro-Hamas fangirls, abortion enthusiasts, Tren de Aragua and Hamas supporters and aging hippies to express their indignation that the right had won a national election.
No matter how many times they’ve been assured that Social Security and Medicaid benefits are not on the chopping block and that once fraud is excised from those programs they’ll be healthier than ever, the mid-wits with their signs keep repeating the lie that the Trump Administration is cutting their benefits.
The protesters don’t read The Wall Street Journal or they’d know about the fraud that has been uncovered in the the early weeks of the Trump administration. In a March 26 story headlined, “Taxpayers Spent Billions Covering The Same Medicaid Patients Twice,” the newspaper reported on massive double payments discovered by the new administration.
Health insurers got double-paid by the Medicaid system for the coverage of hundreds of thousands of patients across the country, costing taxpayers billions of dollars in extra payments.
The insurers, which are paid by state and federal governments to cover low-income Medicaid recipients, collected at least $4.3 billion over three years for patients who were enrolled—and paid for—in other states, a Wall Street Journal analysis of Medicaid data found.
Those of us with common sense who simply spent the weekend enjoying the splendid weather were rather bemused to see the shenanigans of seniors in the streets.
Hey, we held our protest on November 5, 2024. And guess what, protesters? Donald Trump is your president today, he’ll be president in 2026, he’ll be president in 2027 and he’ll be president in 2028.
