CNN Hates Poor Bernie Sanders

CNN Hates Poor Bernie Sanders

Here are six words I never thought I’d utter: I feel sorry for Bernie Sanders.

It must be deja vu all over again for the rumpled socialist from Vermont.

Last time, it was the Democratic Party brass that conspired to keep him off the presidential ticket. This time, the media - CNN at least - seems to be working with one of his opponents to do it again.

Just as Sanders was surging in Iowa, CNN did its best to pop the Sanders’ campaign balloon. On the eve of this week’s debate the network aired a shocking story about how Sanders supposedly told Elizabeth Warren in 2018 that a woman couldn’t win the presidency.

What a sexist!

Warren says it’s true. Sanders denies it.

Classic he said/she said.

Because liberals believe all women - except conservative ones - CNN apparently had no choice but to trumpet Warren’s version of events.

According to Matt Taibbi of Rolling Stone, who apparently has the ability to watch CNN for extended periods of time, the network spent an entire day hyping the thinly reported story. In a piece headlined “CNN’s Debate Performance Was Villainous and Shameful,” Taibbi claimed CNN talking heads and panelists clearly took Warren’s side.

On the debate stage there was little doubt the moderators found Warren credible. Get a load of this question, put to Sanders:

“CNN reported yesterday, and Senator Sanders, Senator Warren confirmed in a statement, that, in 2018, you told her you did not believe that a woman could win the election. Why did you say that?” asked CNN moderator Abby Phillip.

"Well, as a matter of fact, I didn’t say it," Sanders replied. “…Anybody who knows me knows that it’s incomprehensible that I would think that a woman cannot be president of the United States. Go to YouTube today. There’s a video of me 30 years ago talking about how a woman could become president of the United States."

Without missing a beat, Phillip posed this loaded question to Elizabeth Warren:

“Senator Warren, what did you think when Senator Sanders told you a woman could not win the election?”

Sheesh.

After the debate there was Warren, who lied about being Native American, lied about her father being a janitor, lied about being fired from a job because she was pregnant and who lied about her kids going only to public schools, caught on a hot mic confronting Sanders.

Refusing to shake Sanders outstretched hand, Warren hissed, "I think you called me a liar on national TV,"

Sanders, looking befuddled, replied, “What?”

“I think you called me a liar on national TV.”

"You know, let's not do it right now,” Sanders demurred. “ If you want to have that discussion, we'll have that discussion."

"Anytime," Warren said.

"You called me a liar," Sanders sputtered.

Poor Bernie. The flagging Warren campaign - with the aid of CNN - is working off the Democratic Party playbook, tarring a strong opponent as sexist, racist or homophobic.

Shoot, next thing you know, the network will produce someone who once heard Sanders say women are bad drivers. Or that they can’t open pickle jars.

Whether he realizes it or not, Sanders is being Brett Kavanaughed. By rivals in his own party.

Poor Bernie. Pass the popcorn.
