Russian Collusion. At Last!

Russian Collusion. At Last!

What do you know. Looks like we’ve finally found that illusive Russian collusion.

Except it wasn’t Donald Trump working with the enemy. It was the first transgendered Army major, Jamie Lee Henry.

Another glass ceiling shattered.

Henry and his spouse - I’m using the male pronouns that were in the grand jury indictments unsealed this week in a Baltimore court - were charged with plotting to give classified U.S. military medical information to the Russians to help in the war against Ukraine.

Henry was a doctor at Ft. Bragg, home of the Army’s airborne units and Special Operations Command. He had a secret military clearance. Anna Gabrielian was an anesthesiologist at Johns Hopkins.

I suspect neither will be medical doctors or in their old jobs if they’re convicted.

In 2015, Henry became a mini celebrity as the first active-day army officer to come out as transgendered.

According to the eight-count indictment, Henry and Anna met with what they believed was a Russian in August to turn over confidential medical information as a way to demonstrate Henry’s access to sensitive information. Sadly, for Henry, the “Russian embassy employee” was actually an FBI agent.

NBC reports; On Aug. 31, according to the indictment, the FBI agent met Gabrielian and Henry at a hotel in Gaithersburg, Maryland, near Washington, D.C.

Gabrielian gave the agent medical information about the spouse of a person employed by the Office of Naval Intelligence — and highlighted a medical issue that Russia could exploit, the indictment says.

Henry allegedly provided information on at least five individuals who were patients at Fort Bragg, including a retired Army officer, a current Department of Defense employee, the spouse of a U.S. Army veteran, and two spouses of deceased U.S. Army veterans.

It’s unlcear what use this medical information would be to the Russians. It’s worth noting that Gabrielian told the FBI agent that Henry was worried about violating HIPAA - not betraying his country. For her part, the Johns Hopkins doc bragged that she violated HIPAA all the time.

That must be giving the brass at Hopkins heartburn.

In fact, Henry reportedly told the FBI agent that he’d tried to join the Russian army to fight in Ukraine but the Russians “wanted people with combat experience” and he did not have any.

Gee, do you think there’s a chance the Russians were lying? Perhaps they simply don’t want transgendered soldiers.

Quick, someone report the Russians to the human rights court.

Pass the popcorn, these cases are going to be good.
