Two Press Conferences? Biden’s Running Scared.
Need confirmation that the Biden-Harris administration botched its response to Hurricane Helene?
Joe Biden held not one, but two pressers yesterday. He did that for two obvious reasons.
Number one, to show that he was on the job this time and not on the beach.
And two, to deliver a nasty political message denouncing Donald Trump and anyone else who had the temerity to criticize the administration’s desultory response to Helene as “un-American.”
Wow. Looks like we struck a nerve.
Funny, I don’t remember President George W. Bush losing him mind and name-calling when the left-wing media and every Democrat who could get in front of a camera dumped all over him for FEMA’s response to Katrina.
You want to know what’s un-American? The leader of the Free World lounging on the beach while his people drown in floodwaters. You know what else is un-American? The vice president attending big-ticket fundraisers and sashaying around with the beautiful people while Americans in Appalachia were losing everything.
Travel back in time two weeks with me, please.
As Hurricane Helene bore down on the South and buzz-sawed up the Appalachians to deliver catastrophic damage from Florida to Virginia, where was the ace Biden-Harris team?
Biden was slathering himself with Coppertone on a Delaware beach while Kamala was canoodling with her Hollywood friends who shelled out $250,000 a plate to come to her swanky fundraiser.
It took these two boobs days to spring into action. Next, Alejandro Mayorkas claimed that FEMA didn’t have enough money to get through hurricane season. That stunning announcement caused some of us unamerican types to remind the public that FEMA had spent $1 billion resettling illegals.
THAT got the administration's attention faster than the hurricane did.
Biden’s mouthpiece called any mention of illegals “misinformation.” Then they started with bureaucratic bullshit about how the illegals got FEMA “settlement” money, not FEMA funds set aside for disasters.
Yes, I just said bullshit.
News flash: Taxpayers fund FEMA to make sure there’s a competent agency in place to respond nimbly and generously when citizens face dire emergencies.
We don’t want to hear a bunch of jargon about separate pails of money. None of that loot should have been spent on illegals. Not one dime. Illegals shouldn’t be here. FEMA is funded with American tax dollars for Americans.
Oh and before Biden issues yet another denial about the misuse of FEMA funds, here’s a CBS report showing FEMA bragging about spending money on “migrants.”
In contrast to Biden and Harris, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis did a superb job handling the first hurricane. He had emergency workers prepositioned who were ready to get to work as soon as the storm subsided. Power was quickly restored to stricken communities, he ordered a padlocked landfill opened to get debris off the streets and he threatened to use the Florida National Guard to keep the ports open and unload container ships if the longshoremen strike didn’t end quickly.
In a pathetic attempt to score political points as Hurricane Milton menaced Florida by inserting herself into the emergency, Kamala Harris attacked DeSantis, saying he was “selfish” not to take a phone call from her.
Apparently she forget to check with her boss. Almost simultaneously, Biden praised DeSantis and bragged about their close working relationship.
When asked about Harris’ snotty remarks, DeSantis spared no words.
Fact is, this administration has plenty of money for Ukraine, refugees, illegals and now Lebanon. But when it comes to American citizens, not so much.
Biden’s behavior yesterday was confirmation that the criticism leveled at the federal disaster response to Helene was on target.
It also confirms that even in his diminished state, Biden realizes he and Kamala look lazy and inept compared to a skilled leader named DeSantis.
Oh, and last evening, hours before the hurricane was about to make landfall, DeSantis gave a master class in how to deal with truly harmful misinformation.
Note that he’s careful to let Floridians know that HE’S in charge, not FEMA.
If I were a Floridian, that would be a great comfort.
