Nancy Mace Takes On Trans Issue In Congress
Let’s not play games here.
There are women. There are men. And there are people who pretend to be a member of the gender to which they were not born. While hormones and surgeries can help people resemble a member of the opposite sex, a man can’t become a woman and a woman can’t become a man.
Adults, of course, are free to call themselves whatever they like. As long as they don’t try to force the rest of us to play along.
Still, the fact is, most women don’t want to share private spaces with men no matter how dosed up they are on estrogen or how much make-up they wear.
Bathrooms, locker rooms, changing rooms, saunas and even prison cells are places where until recently women did not encounter men. These are our safe spaces. We don’t want males in them.
But the left has been ferociously pushing a “trans” agenda for several years. They force taxpayers to pay for sex-change operations on inmates, they demand we use preferred pronouns and they insist we say that men can become women. In the process, they are erasing women.
The party of science, you know.
They went so far as to change Title IX to force schools to allow boys to play on girls athletic teams. (The courts have stayed the Biden/Harris corruption of Title IX and no doubt once in office President Trump will see that it reverts to its original intent: to protect females.)
Frankly, Congressional restrooms are not a top priority for most of us as we try to protect ourselves, our daughters and granddaughters. But with the election of Rep. Sarah McBride of Delaware - a man who identifies as a woman - Rep. Nancy Mace introduced a resolution that would guarantee that no males are allowed in the female-only areas of Congress. That includes bathrooms, locker rooms and gym facilities, apparently.
Each member of Congress has a private bathroom in their office.
NBC reports:
Mace introduced a resolution Monday to prohibit any lawmakers and House employees from "using single-sex facilities other than those corresponding to their biological sex." She was asked by reporters Tuesday if the move was in response to McBride.
"Yes and absolutely, and then some," Mace told reporters.
Mace was the first woman to graduate from The Citadel and was raped in high school. The congresswoman claims she suffers from PTSD as a result of the violent attack, hence her insistence that men should not share private spaces that are reserved for women.
Sarah McBride was Tim McBride until he was 21. As president of the student body at American University, Tim announced in the school paper that he was now Sarah.
McBride, an LGBTQ activist and close friend of the Biden family, is the first transgender elected to Congress and his presence creates a quandary for Speaker Mike Johnson. According to Fox News he was asked whether the representative from Delaware’s 1st District is a man or a woman.
"Look, I'm not going to get into this. We welcome all new members with open arms who are duly elected representatives of the people," Johnson responded. "I believe it's a… command that we treat all persons with dignity and respect, and we will. And I'm not going to engage in… silly debates about this. There's a concern about uses of restroom facilities and locker rooms and all that. This is an issue that Congress has never had to address before. And we're going to do that in a deliberate fashion, with member consensus on it. And we will accommodate the needs of every single person."
Johnson clarified his position later, however.
Here’s The Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles weighing in.
The newest member of Congress should be treated with respect. Out of respect for the women who work there, however, McBride should stay out of female-only areas on the Hill. Activists are active for a reason, however. This is going to get ugly.
