Daniel Penny: A Cautionary Tale
How many times in the past year has Daniel Penny thought back to that fateful subway ride on May 1, 2023 and wished he’d simply turned up the volume on his headphones and closed his eyes as a drugged-up hobo threatened passengers.
I wonder if he thinks back to the moment 30-year-old Jordan Neely lunged toward a woman with a child in a stroller and wished he’d just shrugged and looked away.
These terrified people weren’t his problem. He was a former Marine. He could take care of himself. This lunatic posed no danger to him.
Instead, Penny went all Boy Scout and leapt to his feet, protecting the women and the children and the cowards on the car from a menacing maniac who was screaming threats and frightening innocent passenger. He threw the smelly man to the floor and got him in a submission hold.
As we all know, Neely died. Toxicology reports show he was full of drugs. A medical examiner said he died of strangulation. When EMTs arrived on the scene Neely still had a pulse but they refused to do CPR on him because the man was so filthy they were afraid they’d catch hepatitis.
And now Daniel Penny is paying dearly for his singular act of valor.
Instead of lauding this brave man, giving him the keys to the lawless city, a ruthless left-wing New York City prosecutor is trying to throw him in prison for 15 years on a charge of manslaughter.
Meanwhile, the father of this bum is filing a lawsuit against Penny as he tries to get rich off the disastrous results of his terrible parenting.
Mobs of mindless chanting racists are outside of the courtroom where Penny’s fighting for his freedom and his good name. Every morning he’s forced to walk a gauntlet of hate mongers chanting “Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!”
The non-sequestered jurors know about the hotheads outside. They also know these race baiters have threatened to burn down the city if Penny is acquitted. Could that be why they deadlocked over the most serious charges facing the accused?
Could that be why the judge sent them back to consider a lesser charge - criminally negligent homicide instead of granting a mistrial and putting an end - at least temporarily - to this ghastly miscarriage of justice?
It’s hard to watch what’s going on in New York and not feel sick.
We live in a country that canonized George Floyd and wants the scalp of Daniel Penny.
America needs more than just a tsunami of change in Washington. We need good people to stand up and cry “enough!”
God protect Daniel Penny. The justice system is failing him, he needs divine protection.
