Biden Shuffles To The Border
Joe Biden can shuffle down to the Southern border nine months before the election, he can point his pasty fingers at Republicans and blame them for the invasion, but it won’t work. He can’t hide from the fact that the catastrophe that has allowed an estimated 10 million illegals into the country is his fault.
And so is the death of Laken Riley, the 22-year-old nursing student whose head was bashed in last week by an illegal alien from Venezuela.
The suspect in this case entered the U.S. in 2022. Shortly thereafter he was arrested for endangering a minor in New York City. But he wasn’t deported - as he should have been- because local authorities in NYC don’t cooperate with ICE.
Mayor Eric Adams has now called for the city to change its “sanctuary” policy that bans law enforcement from turning deportables over to Immigration.
It’s a little late, Mr. Mayor.
Guess who has long supported local law enforcement defying the feds?
Yep, that was Biden back in 2020. Do you really think he’s changed?
Of course he hasn’t. He does, however, support the terrible border bill that was defeated recently in the Senate that would restrict illegal immigration once 5,000 illegals were crossing the border a day.
Five thousand!
One is too many, Joe.
In what I’m sure was just a happy accident Biden arrived at the Texas border Thursday, just as Donald Trump was arriving.
Of course Trump went to Eagle Pass, a hot spot where thousands of illegals have crossed into the country and where Texas has made a stand, desperately trying to keep them out. Meanwhile, Biden went to Brownsville, a quiet border town that is not inundated with illegals at the moment.
It does, however, have a Democrat mayor, so there’s that.
Incidentally, Trump visited the border numerous times during his presidency.
This was Biden’s second visit.
Do you suppose now that immigration is the number one issue on American minds and Biden is deeply underwater on the subject that this had anything to do with his belated decision to make an appearance?
Naturally, Biden blames Trump and Republicans for the chaos, claiming they’re blocking that nutty Senate bill.
The Biden administration is good at just one thing: Gaslighting.
But they can’t gaslight the American people on immigration. The country is knows that Biden rolled into office with an open borders policy. And we’re reaping the rewards of that reckless policy.
The Pew Research Center sees it this way:
Since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021, his administration has acted on a number of fronts to reverse Trump-era restrictions on immigration to the United States. The steps include plans to boost refugee admissions, preserving deportation relief for unauthorized immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and not enforcing the “public charge” rule that denies green cards to immigrants who might use public benefits like Medicaid.
Biden has also lifted restrictions established early in the coronavirus pandemic that drastically reduced the number of visas issued to immigrants. The number of people who received a green card declined from about 240,000 in the second quarter of the 2020 fiscal year (January to March) to about 79,000 in the third quarter (April to June). By comparison, in the third quarter of fiscal 2019, nearly 266,000 people received a green card.
Biden’s biggest immigration proposal to date would allow more new immigrants into the U.S. while giving millions of unauthorized immigrants who are already in the country a pathway to legal status. The expansive legislation would create an eight-year path to citizenship for the nation’s estimated 10.5 million unauthorized immigrants, update the existing family-based immigration system, revise employment-based visa rules and increase the number of diversity visas. By contrast, President Donald Trump’s administration sought to restrict legal immigration in a variety of ways, including through legislation that would have overhauled the nation’s legal immigration system by sharply reducing family-based immigration.
Biden owns the mess on the border. He can’t escape it.
