Headed Home
Thanks to the magic of in-flight WiFi, we’re posting this from 35,000 feet as we make our way home from San Juan to Norfolk with a stop in Miami.
The San Juan wedding weekend was magical and so was the too-brief vacay.
Barring a crash or tornado delay, I’ll be on the air at 96.5 FM or 850 WTAR Thursday morning from 6-9 with “The Kerry and Mike Show.” We don’t land in Norfolk until after midnight Wednesday, so I may be groggy.
Still, so much news to cover!
Don’t worry, I watched President Trump’s address to Congress Tuesday night from a poolside patio on a balmy 79-degree night in Rincon.
Trust me, I’ll have lots to say about those Democrat brats here on the website Friday.
In the meantime, enjoy some of the sights from Puerto Rico.
These prehistoric beasts were everywhere! They’re not venomous, we were told. I didn’t get close enough to find out.
Traveling with kids can be fun! Here’s Fox - the world’s tallest 2-year-old.
Here I am, watching President Trump on my iPad. Just call me Sasquatch.
Rincon is more than just a Puerto Rican surfer spot. It boasts a pristine amateur baseball field in this baseball-crazy territory. This statue honors Luis Perez Moreno who once stole home eight times in a single season. A Puerto Rican - and possibly world - record. When asked how he did it, Moreno replied “Yo no era el correador mas veloz pero era el mejor observador.”
“I was never the fastest runner but I was always the best observer.”
Rincon, on the west coast, boasts some of the best waves in the world. It’s also a laid-back village with a charming downtown.
Non-surfers can find gentle waves at a number of Rincon beaches. Our favorite was Black Eagle Beach. Here’s an afternoon storm rolling in, which provided the perfect excuse to gather up the chairs and towels and sprint to shelter in a beachfront bar. Fruity rum drinks after a hot day in the sun. Nothing better.
Tail-end of sunset our last night in Puerto Rico.
Can you think of a better place to sip your morning coffee? I can’t.
Food trucks are EVERYWHERE. And tacos from the Wake and Break were delish.
Animal lovers rescue abandoned horses all over the island. A volunteer named Kat explained that people let the orphaned animals live on their land in exchange for property tax breaks.
Sunny loves bananas.
The bridge into San Juan. Sorry, I don’t know its name.
